If you are a childbirth educator, doula, or midwife, here are two good places that you can go to advertise your website or services.
One good directory for listings is at www.birthpartners.com. Birthpartners.com is a large and growing directory of childbirth professionals worldwide. It is free and is run by Greg Cryns of the Compleat Mother Magazine (compleatmother.com). They have set it up so that you can advertise your name, address, phone number , email, and other information. A website address is not necessary to be listed.
One other place if you have a childbirth education website advertising your classes is to go to www.dmoz.org and go to the Health > Women's Health > Childbirth > Education subcategory and at the top of the page click the "Add URL" link and fill in the appropriate information similar to the other links in that category. I am listed as an editor (Robert Haasch) in that subcategory and in the Childbirth category at dmoz.org. The search database used there is also used by search engines such as Lycos, Hotbot, Netscape, AOL, InfoSpace, and several others. If you add your link there, you will get listed at dmoz.org within a couple of days and on the others automatically within 6-12 weeks whenever each downloads the latest information.
Also, if you have a website, don't forget to submit your urls to the major search engines (altavista.com, infoseek.com, yahoo.com, etc) if you haven't already.
